Experienced Management Team
The Brown family has been publishing successful newspapers in Ohio since 1920. Led by CEO Roy Brown, the current management team has significant experience in the newspaper publishing business, both with Brown and with other newspaper companies. The team has successfully expanded the Company over the last several years and consolidated its operations from 18 autonomous papers to four divisions. On average, the senior executive team has 15 years of experience in the business.
Brown also has an experienced core of managers at the divisional level. Brown's publishers have an average of 19.5 years and its senior editors have an average of 22.5 years in newspaper publishing. Most of the management at these levels live and work in the communities served by their newspapers. |

| Roy Brown, President & CEO
Roy Brown assumed the duties of President and CEO on January 1, 2000. He currently is responsible for all functions of the Company's management. After five years on the Company's Board of Directors, Mr. Brown joined the Company full-time in 1996 as the Company's first General Counsel and has dealt with a wide range of day-to-day legal issues while also helping to develop the Company's operational and long-term growth strategy. Mr. Brown next served as the Company's Chief Operating Officer in 1999 until his appointment as CEO. In his short tenure, Mr. Brown has cultivated several growth prospects for the Company and has overseen the acquisition of twelve newspaper operations for the Company. |

| Joel Dempsey, VP-General Counsel
Joel Dempsey joined Brown's staff in December of 1998. He is responsible for corporate management of all legal and human resource-related matters, including matters related to the company's several recent acquisitions. Mr. Dempsey also oversees all of the Company's real estate and manages facility improvements. In his tenure, Mr. Dempsey has also overseen four acquisitions, all ongoing negotiations with the Company's lenders, and the restructuring of the Cate Brinnon note. Mr. Dempsey works closely with the Board of Directors, CEO, and the Company's outside advisers to accomplish the Company's short and long term growth objectives. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Dempsey was Assistant General Counsel for True North Communications based in Chicago. He also spent 6 years in New York as a litigation associate at the firm of Richards & O'Neil. Mr. Dempsey received both his B.A. and his J.D. degrees from the University of Virginia. He is licensed to practice law in New York, Illinois and Ohio. |

| Joe Ellingham, VP-CFO
Mr. Ellingham joined the Company in November 2000. Previously, he was with Thomson Newspapers where he was the CFO of Thomson's Strategic Marketing Group in Appleton, Wisconsin since 1996. As CFO of Thomson's largest SMG ($100 million in annual revenues), Mr. Ellingham oversaw all aspects of financial management for 8 daily newspapers and numerous weeklies. Prior to joining Thomson, Mr. Ellingham was the CFO for the Press-Enterprise Company, located in Riverside, California ($80 million in annual revenues). Mr. Ellingham began his career in newspapers with the Tribune Company as planning director and later controller at the Sun-Sentinel in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. He moved to Riverside after 15 years with Tribune Co. At Press-Enterprise, Mr. Ellingham was responsible for and managed an entirely new regime of financial and operational planning for the family-owned company. Largely as a result of these efforts, the Press-Enterprise was sold in 1996 with a profit over 100% better than that which confronted Joe when he arrived in 1993. Mr. Ellingham joined Thomson's Wisconsin newspapers in 1996 and was instrumental in grouping the newspapers together when Thomson developed its SMG concept. During his tenure with Thomson, Mr. Ellingham helped develop Wisconsin into Thomson's largest SMG whose margin had grown from the low-20s in 1996 up to over 30% when it was sold in 2000. In his last year with Thomson, Mr. Ellingham also oversaw the creation of a $34 million centralized production facility that was completed on budget while the negotiation of the sale of the SMG was ongoing. Mr. Ellingham received his B.A. from Elizabethtown College and his MBA from the University of Florida. |

| Bruce Sample, Corporate Production Director
Bruce Sample became Corporate Production Director in February 1998. He is responsible for corporate management of the Company's press and pre-press functionality. Mr. Sample has a thorough knowledge of many different press lines, as well as other equipment used in the production process. He is the corporate officer responsible for the Company's OSHA compliance. He also recently managed the successful creation of and transfer of workflow to the new Xenia production facility. Prior to being promoted to his current position, Mr. Sample served the Company for 20 years in its Lebanon division as Production Director and a brief period as Publisher of its Miamisburg division. |

| Kim Supensky, Corporate Controller
Kim Supensky joined the company in June 2001 as Corporate Controller. Ms. Supensky is responsible for all financial management and control functions within the newspaper. She is responsible for developing and managing all financial policies, financial reporting, audit management and oversees cash management. Ms. Supensky has upgraded all financial reporting systems in the company and is managing the reporting and control portions of the billing system installations. Prior to joining the company, Ms. Supensky was Controller for Fraser Papers, Dayton, Ohio. She has also held financial management positions with Heidelberg Finishing Systems, Federal Packaging Corporation and Montgomery County. Ms. Supensky received her B.S. in Accounting from Wright State University and is a CPA. |

| Gary Merrell, Regional Vice President, Southern Ohio Group/Group Publisher/Publisher, The Athens Messenger
Gary Merrell joined the Company in December of 2002, and is responsible for the operations of eight publications from Athens, Ohio and throughout Southern and Central Ohio. Based in Athens, Gary is also Publisher of The Athens Messenger. Previously he was with The Dispatch Printing Company where he had served as Vice President of Advertising for The Columbus Dispatch since December of 1996. Gary had joined the Dispatch in 1986 as Classified Manager and also served as Retail Manager, Assistant Advertising Director, and Advertising Director. During this time he was also the leader of the sales teams and a board member for This Week, a group of 20 plus community newspapers in the Columbus Area, and a board member for Dispatch Consumer Services and Ohio Magazine. Gary’s other newspaper activities were as a member of NAA Display Federation Board of Directors where he chaired the Public Utilities Committee in 2001, and a past president and board member of the Ohio Newspaper Advertising Executives. In addition he is a Rotarian, a past mentor in the Columbus YMCA Leadership Program, a former member of the Advisory Council to The Ohio State University School of Journalism, and a former advisor to Pi Sigma Epsilon business fraternity at The Ohio State University. Gary began his career with the Oklahoma Publishing Company, The Daily Oklahoma and Oklahoma City Times in 1971. During his tenure he served in retail, national, and other key positions before joining classified in 1980 as classified real estate manager. Gary left OPUBCO in 1986 as classified sales manager after accepting the position of classified manager at The Columbus Dispatch. Gary holds a B.B.A. in marketing with minors in finance and accounting from the University of Oklahoma and has attended API sessions for both advertising management executives and classified management. |
